Freewriter respects your privacy. This policy explains what information Freewriter collects, how it is used, and where your writing and account data may be stored. It applies to Freewriter websites and apps, including Freewriter 3AM, Play and Pro.
Local use: By default, Freewriter saves your documents, projects and settings locally in your browser or on your device. Freewriter 3AM, Play and Pro may keep matching copies in localStorage and IndexedDB so one local store can recover the other. Both copies remain on the same device and can be removed when you clear all data for the site. This writing is not uploaded to Freewriter servers unless you enable and use a cloud, sync or backup feature.
Accounts, paid access and support: When you create an account, subscribe, make a purchase or contact us, we may collect:
Payment card details are handled by payment processors such as Stripe and are not stored directly by Freewriter.
CloudSync: If you enable CloudSync, Freewriter may store your writing, app data, settings, backup data, sync metadata and account-related records using third-party cloud infrastructure, including Firebase.
Analytics: Freewriter uses OzAnalytics, an in-house first-party analytics service, for anonymous traffic and usage analytics, error reports and feature requests. It does not use advertising tracking.
By logging in to Freewriter, you are automatically added to the Be a BOB mailing list. We may use your name and email address to send occasional Freewriter, Ricky Browne and 7B.AU news, updates and product offers. We do not sell your details or share them publicly. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in an email.
⚠️ Important: 🔰Freewriter Play, Pro & 3AM save your data locally in your browser—not in the cloud by default. Your data is sent to cloud storage only when you enable and use CloudSync.
CloudSync can keep a cloud copy of your writing and make it available across supported devices. It is optional and may require an account and active subscription. Each Freewriter app stores its writing separately.
CloudSync is a convenience, not a guaranteed backup. Sync or recovery may fail because of device or network problems, third-party outages, software errors, account issues, storage limits, user action or accidental deletion. Do not rely on CloudSync, browser storage, Firebase or any single storage method as your only copy of important work.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ricky Browne is not responsible for writing or other data that is lost, deleted, overwritten, corrupted, inaccessible or unrecoverable. You remain responsible for keeping independent manual backups.
Freewriter may use essential browser storage for app data, preferences, authentication and session management. Your OzAnalytics traffic preference is saved in localStorage so it can apply as you move between pages. You can change the analytics choice using the shield button displayed on supported Freewriter pages.
Account, cloud and payment features may rely on third-party providers, including Firebase and Stripe. Those features may be affected by the providers' availability, terms, limits and security practices.
You can clear local storage or remove an installed app to delete local app data. You can turn off CloudSync where the app provides that control and unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
We may update this policy over time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use of Freewriter after an update means you accept the revised policy.
